    Chapter 1. Introduction

Instead of introduction

Yes. This is (not) another personal development guide...
Yes. In life, a sense of humor might or might not be useful,
and on the way of self-development it definitely is (not)...
Yes. This guide is (not) written in a boring and difficult way, so...
this is (not) a guide for over-intellectualized or...
oh well, check it if you want, don't if you don't...

!!!
read carefully /
avoid what's boring /
choose what helps /
use at own risk
!!!

The wish

    I assume that if you are reading this, you wish to achieve something, but it does not go as smooth as you would like it to. Well... It happens...
    And You're not alone in this...
    If this is the case, you may find some advice here that will help you achieve what you want, regardless of whether your desires concern success in your work, sports or learning how to sing...

The readiness

    What is important at the outset is readiness. Readiness for development and readiness for success, but above all, readiness to fail, readiness for regularity and readiness for breaks (intended or not, because it happens (they sometimes do happen quite often)...).

The pledge

    If you're ready for this, sign the pledge.
    Write that starting today you begin your self-development journey in a chosen field. Write it on a piece of paper or in a notebook or in the phone or on a sleeve cuff... or maybe tattoo it on your arm - the decision is truly yours.
    It is important that this information from now on accompany you at all time in your life (at least until you find it is not interesting for you anymore..., then you can remove the information... - and I sincerely wish you good luck if you've decided earlier to tattoo on your shoulder "I will become a super athlete", well let's hope changing your mind in the subject won't hurt you too much). No, but seriously - think twice before this tattooing yourself.

The notebook

    In addition to this basic information that you write down somewhere, set up a "development notebook". In this notebook, you can write down any comments on the topic related to your own development in your chosen field.
    This notebook can help you in many different situations that you will encounter during development. It can listen to you, and also tell you something based on your past deeds (just remember, if it starts to talk too much and it starts to seem very real to you, then the first decision should be... taking off the drugs maybe(?)... and if the notebook does not stop talking, it's not that I'm forcing you, but maybe it's worth going to a specialist... a shaman maybe... or... you know).
    In general, it is supposed to be such an external memory that, if properly used, can significantly contribute to achieving the intended purpose - that wish of yours.

Good luck

    Chapter 2. Self-responsibility

    Okay, so I assume you already know "that" and "what" you want to develop (for example, learn to play the cello brilliantly), you have it written down (ps. if you have it tattooed you can also feel like a star) and you have a development notebook, in which you note diligently your everyday successes and defeats in development (write down your fails particularly scrupulously - you can learn the most from them, seriously).
    Another thing is to decide that from now on you take responsibility for yourself and for your actions in a given field.
    What could it mean?
    Above all, from this point on, you take responsibility for your every act, every thought, and every emotion. The world that surrounds you affects you in different ways, but it depends on you how you interpret this environment and what you do with what surrounds you.
    You plan to have two hours of exercise in the evening, and someone invites you to the party, or you are so horribly tired after a hard day at work, or...
    Self-responsibility means that if you decide to develop - you realize that only you are responsible for where you get - how much you develop. People who surround you can advise, help, disturb, congratulate, thank, etc., but you decide what you choose from what they give you and how far you will get in this development.

    Your decision - your path - your finish line.

    With the shield or... under the shield (because on the shield sooner or later you will find yourself anyway, but let's leave it for some other time).
    Now, if, for example, you decide to go to a personal development coach, (s)he can tell you what to do (if it happens that (s)he is working in the "prompting" paradigm), but you yourself have to do something with these hints, with your improvement in the field, guide it the way to make it successful.
    And although it may seem to you that this type of life causes a heavy burden of responsibility, actually... the load will be much heavier... But do not let it frighten you... Remember - it's for your own good. And now, when you have all that weights on your shoulders, no additional life weight will scare you (because what is another ton of despair if you are already carrying several hundred tons of responsibility for this despair)...

    And one more thing... The statement of self-responsibility for your development means that you yourself decide what you read and from whom you learn. And it also opens you the way to disagree with the information that will be passed on to you in books, movies, theater or at a party. You decide whose advice you use and which one you leave to the authors for their personal use.
    So use this guide with just such awareness. Decide yourself which of the content I provide is useful for you and which one is not. Remember: your life - your choice.

    In other words, from now on:

responsibility is on your side

    Chapter 3. Adventure with development

    You can think about personal development in many different ways... You can develop in order to bridge your weaknesses, you can improve to take advantage of opportunities for development, you can develop to perfection your strengths or develop to reduce the possible threats (normally, as they say - you can do everything)...
    And above all, you can think about your development as an adventure that you are just experiencing... That is what your development in a given field may be - the adventure of discovering yourself, your strengths and weaknesses, opportunities and threats, etc. - it's your adventure, your journey, during which you meet yourself and people who may sometimes help you, and sometimes harm you... Because that's how it is with adventures... Look at all the events you encounter with curiosity ...
    At the same time, remember that this is a one-time adventure... Here, there will be no do overs of the same movement at the same moment of the wandering, because that how this world is constructed... So sometimes, think twice about the action you want to take and about its consequences... And sometimes go for it - "go all out"...
    Just remember:

Your decision - Your life...

    Chapter 4. Developmental attitude

    When you realize that you are just having the greatest adventure of your life, take care of an appropriate attitude that will help you mobilize and implement your plans, and also help you to raise when you fall (and believe me - you will fall).
    This attitude will help you create a basis for self-improvement, enjoying both challenges and successes, better enduring developmental failures, feeling less stress related to what is going to happen... Because from each experience you can draw conclusions and use them later during your adventure...
    What is this attitude about?
    Depending on the human, it will probably be slightly different, but it will contain some basic components, like:
    - the desire to develop;
    - the readiness to dedicate some time and energy to personal growth (just remember - the more energy you use, the more you get tired);
    - the awareness of your own imperfection (I hope you know what I am talking about ...);
    - the readiness to admit mistakes / failures combined with the awareness that you can use mistakes / failures (if they happen) for your own development (because otherwise it's a bit pointless. You know, to lose and gain nothing from it... that must be depressing, so that's why you should always look for this moral victory - the lesson learned from the failure... and you might feel better right away...);
    - the awareness of your own strengths (though not necessarily knowing which one are they... and yes - you have some strong sides, seriously... I know that it may be difficult for you to believe it at the moment, but there is something you can do, something you know, maybe you don’t look that bad, etc..., I’m sure you will find something...);
    - the feeling of joy because of your own development (yes, yeah, yeah ... you understand – joy);
    - the willingness to take responsibility for your own thoughts and actions (you already know that);
    - the readiness to sometimes start learning from complete basics with all the consequences (you do not know about it yet, but you will find out).
    What can such attitude give you?
    First of all, it allows you to look differently at the reality around us, at what other people do and what we ourselves do. It allows you to think differently about yourself and your own achievements (both positive and negative). It allows you to think of the world as a phenomenon that is constantly changing and not constant; as a phenomenon which we can influence.
    What else could this attitude cause?
    It deprives us of the possibility of hiding behind the statements which help "avoiding responsibility". Like, "It just happened like this by itself that I did not go through with it, that I did not do it on time"... "It’s because of him / her I did not do it / I did not do what I was supposed to do" ... "It’s him / her who pissed me off and I just reacted"..., etc.
    With the developmental attitude, you know that you are responsible for your actions, but you also know that you can change your today's behavior tomorrow... or maybe even today?...
    And there is something else...
    Sometimes it gives us a little joy because of the fact that we put on this whole baggage of responsibility for our own actions, thoughts, emotions, endless failures, sporadic successes and all the rest... Sometimes... Not often...
     So adjust yourself as much as possible and...

enjoy your life...
